Our Story

The story of our relationship begins our senior year of high school in Lincoln. Dominic had moved to Nebraska the year before, but our paths never crossed until our mutual friend, Bryce, introduced us in September of 2017. Dominic and I coincidentally had an accounting class together that year which led to a budding friendship. Soon thereafter, Dominic and I became best friends and were inseparable thereafter. We had similar dreams and ambitious plans for our life. Even though we had only known each other for a short time, it seemed as if we had known each other for our entire lives.

We sat next to each other during class and spent every lunch break together. After school, we would study together. We worked on everything from statistics projects to discussing our life goals. After seeing how much time we were spending together, my parents invited Dominic over for dinner. I'm certain that my parents wanted to get to know this new person in my life. They soon found out what I already knew. He was smart, charming, and very respectful. My mom, who sparingly hands out compliments, went so far to say, “Dominic is like the son I never had”. Little did she know he would become a part of our family and truly be the son she never had.

When we weren’t studying, we would go driving around town. Our drives led to late night talks and sing-alongs. The time we spent together in high school created so many memories and stories. It was hard to leave Lincoln for college without my best friend, but we knew that our friendship would survive. Every time I came home from college, we would pick up right where we left off. We would spend late into the night talking each other’s ears off sharing stories from college. We knew that our relationship was more than a friendship. After three years of college we decided to date. While there were challenges, like any long distance relationship, our connection, love, and spark never dulled and only strengthened.

Once I moved to Texas, our relationship grew exponentially. We always joke about how we did everything backwards. We got a dog. We then moved in with each other. We then opened a joint bank account and finally decided to get married. However unorthodox or unlikely this relationship was, it formed and thrived! We both feel so fortunate to have found each other. Today, our home is always filled with endless laughter, chaos, joy, love, and care. We are so excited to share our love with a ceremony in front of our friends and family and of course, our dog, Mac.

We hope you can join us for a celebration of our love on September 14th in Vail, Colorado.
